Gladney is the place where hope is born. Gladney has been creating bright futures through adoption in the Dallas-Fort Worth area now for 130 years, and we do this through a number of avenues, but it always starts with our birth mothers.
Birth mother is the term we use to refer to a woman who has placed her child for adoption. We recognize that these women place their children for adoption because they want a life for their child that's better than what they are able to give them at this time in their lives. Frequently these women aren't even living the kind of life they envisioned for themselves. Our heart is to help these women chart and start a course that will lead them to the life they dream of.
In addition to providing financial and emotional support throughout the adoption process, at Gladney, these women receive a career counselor who helps them determine what they want to do and how to get there. Career coaching may be as simple as helping them with resume writing or interview practice, but it oftentimes also branches into discovering and obtaining educational opportunities. They even provide budget training. And of course, emotional counselor and access to birth mother support groups are vital components of helping these women get back on their feet.
